September - 2024

A complete and thorough firmware update on the brake monitoring boxes has been successfully completed at a Container Terminal located in Melbourne. This step is essential to ensuring that we maintain a consistently high level of reliability and operational efficiency in these systems.

July - 2024

On July 10th and 11th SUR Engineering participated in the 2024 Australia Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition in Melbourne. It was a great opportunity to meet different players in this important growing market in Australia.

April - 2022

SUR Engineering finalized a study and analysis on the causes of failure of a mechanical modification on several yard cranes for an important client.

To perform this evaluation, it was necessary to elaborate a detailed model of the crane to see the correct behaviour of the structure and components.

We were able to find the causes of the problem and we will help the customer to prepare a new solution.

JULY - 2021

SUR Engineering has concluded the verification and procedure for the repair of a ship to shore crane in a Malaysian port that has been hit by a ship hatch cover. The job has been completed and the crane is back in operations.

The damage on the sill beam and leg was repaired and the complete procedure was backed up by SUR Engineering calculations and simulations.

SUR Engineering is very satisfied that another important customer can continue using their equipment after a short interruption due to the accident.

april - 2021

SUR Engineering will provide technical assistance and support for the inspection and damage assessment of a ship to shore crane that has been derailed following an impact against the end stoppers after being blown away during a heavy storm.

The crane suffered a heavy collision and is currently out of service. SUR Engineering will prepare the inspection plan and will later evaluate the condition and provide recommendations.

March - 2021

SUR Engineering has been appointed to evaluate the damage and review the repair procedure for a ship to shore crane in a Malaysian port that has been hit by a ship hatch cover. SUR Engineering is assisting the Port and the contractor appointed for the repair.

There is substantial damage on the sill beam that will require replacing some portions of webs and flanges. SUR Engineering will perform a complete structural analysis and verification of the crane integrity as well as a verification of the temporary supports and jigs.

february - 2021

Top tier mining companies in Australia are relying on SUR Engineering to provide technical advice and supply products to improve the safety of their Pintsch Bubenzer motor brake operations. By installing BCU 2001 units (Brake Controlling Units) end users are capable of remotely monitoring brake conditions in real time without the need of physical inspections or sensitive switches that can get clogged with dust and thence providing unreliable information about the actual brake condition.

Besides determining the air gap, pad wear and open/close condition, the electronic controllers can detect the manually open brake condition without the need to install any cable specific switches to do so. Simply upgrades in the rectifier and installation of the units in the machine electric cabinet suffice to dramatically increase the reliability and preventive maintenance tasks, particularly in remote drives where access for inspection is not easy.
